Recently a friend pointed out astutely that I had neglected my blog. As is evident from my updates, this is clearly the case and I guess in a sense I have let myself down in the regularity of my posts.
Excuse time! I spent my November and December (I'd like to think) working hard with uni and trying to keep busy, though admittedly I will add here I avoided the gym completely, much to my disappointment now. I had some coursework to submit, two presentations and an assessment centre for a placement for my third year of my degree.
I'll linger on that last point a little. I had an assessment centre at IBM, one of the first companies I applied to for a placement. I stayed at my uni house for a few days extra after my housemates left for christmas, and on the day, I got up bright and early to get a taxi to IBM. Long story short, I was nervous but confident I could do my best. Soon after I heard back. I had been successful and was being considered for the next stage! I was ecstatic as it was my first experience of an assessment centre. To top that off, soon afterwards again I received an email to inform me a manager at IBM wanted to skip the matching stage and further interview, and offer me a position!
So yeah, I received an incredible early christmas present of an offer of a placement at IBM.
Following that, I spent my christmas break enjoying myself with family and friends and working a lot to save up some money! Now back for semester 2 of university with one coursework deadline met already. For new years I set a resolution for myself, and that was to make use of my gym membership. I don't want to do anything crazy but my intent is to make the most of the money I have paid for the gym. I have started off with going 3 days this week! Also, with my 11-a-side football, sadly all the places were filled in the sunday league for this season. But it has turned out we will join a saturday league instead which is a good alternative.
To conclude, I feel I have rambled a lot but then again a lot has happened and its hard to condense it all into a short, coherent post! Perhaps they will get better in times to come.
Happy (very very late) New Year, and I hope this year can be as good as I found my 2012!
